Samsung has unveiled its flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge, at the MWC in Barcelona. Most of the specs and features were already leaked ahead of the Unpacked event. The Galaxy S6 has a flat screen, whereas, the screen in the Galaxy S6 Edge curves round its sides. Both devices have metal bodies, however, the Galaxy S6 looks similar to Apple’s iPhone 6. The S6 & S6 Edge have Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and the back.

The  Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge feature a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, F1.9, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), HDR, and support 4K recording. At the front of the devices there is a 5MP front-facing camera with Low Light Shot feature, the front camera supports 1080p video recording. Both devices have wider aperture, which should improve their ability to take photos and videos in low light conditions. The camera also features quick starting time, it only takes 0.7 second to start quick snap shot. There is also IR sensor and heart rate sensor at the back of the devices, positioned next to the single-LED flash.

Samsung uses its own Exynos 7420 eight-core 64-bit CPU in both devices, a powerful yet a smaller 64-bit processor which uses less power. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge comes with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage, with 3GB LPDDR4 of RAM. There is no microSD slot, therefore, the storage in both devices is non-expandable. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge comes with 5.1 Quad HD Super AMOLED 577ppi display 2560 x 1440p resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Home key works as a fingerprint sensor and supports Samsung’s new Payment system.

Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge both support PMA and WPC wireless charging, and Samsung’s fast charging feature; 10mins of charge gives you 4 hours of use. Samsung claims that it takes the Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge half the time it would take an iPhone 6 to fully charge.

The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge uses NFC+MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) for mobile payment. According to Samsung the S6 & S6 Edge comes with advanced built in security for piece of mind for business and government users. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge run Android 5.0 Lollipop with simplified Samsung’s own UI.

The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge supports LTE Cat.6, and comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and Beidou, IR blaster and FM radio for connectivity. The Galaxy S6 is powered by a 2550 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2600 mAh battery.

Samsung has also revealed its new Gear VR version, virtual reality kit that uses the S6 models as a screen.

Samsung Galaxy S6 comes in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Blue Topaz, whereas, the Galaxy S6 Edge comes in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Green Emerald. The price of the new handsets has yet to be announced. However, both devices will be available in 20 countries on 10 April. [reaction_buttons]
